Tourist Attractions in Mumbai

Mumbai is an archipelago of seven islands, which attracts countless tourists from all over the world. This international city of big dreams brings together people of all walks of life in search of wonder, escape, and golden opportunities. Here, you’ll find an uncommon energy, where the rich and poor often coexist as neighbours. Considered the financial hub of India, there is a continual flow of business visitors all year round.

Mumbai, the land of Bollywood: This is where you’ll find a plethora of attractions, including historical monuments, museums, malls, and beaches. If you’re looking for somewhere to spend a few days to a week, there’s a good balance of cultural and leisurely activities here.

Some of the most notable attractions around North and Central Mumbai:

Sanjay Gandhi National Park: Also known as Borivali National Park, this is a lush sanctuary of green forest, home to numerous species of birds, wild animals, and trees. Within the park are pristine lakes, rivers, beautiful valleys, and hills. The park is a must visit for nature-lovers. If this is your first time, we recommend signing up for a safari tour. It’s a lovely and worthwhile way to get acquainted with the largest park in the world located within city limits.

Versova Beach: One of the best places to enjoy the serenity of sunrise and sunset, Versova Beach is an extension of Juhu beach. The two are only separated by a creek but draw different atmospheres. Think of it as the quieter and more secluded sister beach. Still, you’ll find various exciting activities, including cycling, snorkeling and horse riding. It’s also the site of some fun festivals such as Coconut Day, Ganesh Chaturthi and others.

Mahakali Caves: Situated at a height of 230 feet, this Buddhist monastery holds great religious significance, its structures dating between 1st century BCE and 6th century CE. There are 19 caves cut out of basalt rock, some with depictions of Buddha and other religious figures. It’s an archeological jewel in the rough of new urban sprawl.

Vipassana Pagoda: This unique pagoda in Mumbai is a symbol of peace and harmony. Built in 2009, this stunning monument was built as a replica of the famous Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar. In the center of this pagoda is the world’s largest stone dome built without any supporting pillars. Built with the purpose of expressing gratitude, it is a beautiful place to learn about the teachings of Buddha.

Powai Lake: This 214-year old man-made lake is home to a host of amphibians and aquatic plants. Surrounded by beautiful landscaping, it’s not just the birds and the bees spending their sunny days here. You’ll find boaters cruising the peaceful waters, an oasis of calm in this growing city.
